Liverpool supporters could have been forgiven for fearing the worst when exciting new recruit Dominik Szoboszlai missed Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Greuther Furth. He missed the action-packed 4-4 draw after suffering an ankle issue during training. However, manager Jurgen Klopp downplayed the injury and informed that he will be back soon. It will be interesting to see if he will be involved in their next friendly against Leicester City at the end of this month.

Jurgen Klopp is unclear whether he will be back for the Leicester match but he is convinced Dominik Szoboszlai will be ready for the Bayern Munich friendly. “He rolled his ankle slightly in training, really nothing. Everybody is super-positive about it, himself first. If we would have today a Premier League game or whatever, he could play. So, we don’t take a risk and we will see what we will do with the Leicester game after travel [and] stuff like this. But for the Bayern game he will be ready, definitely,” Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com before the match.

Most important, nobody got injured: Jurgen Klopp

Then Klopp shifted his attention to the entertaining 4-4 draw with Greuther Furth. He was pleased with many aspects of that game despite Liverpool conceding four, as he also spoke about their 10-day camp in Germany. “Spectacular result… a lot of good football situations, obviously we could have scored in the first half already, that was all good. You could see now, last day of the camp; travel, play, travel is always a bit exhausting. But that’s it and you have to go through it, that’s what we did. Most important, nobody got injured,” he told the club’s website after the match.

“Of course nobody wants to concede four goals but you saw in the second half we tried to have a playing build-up and we were too late in mind, passed the balls too late, first touch not good, and that’s how we brought them back into the game. Scored on the other hand really, really nice goals, to be honest. So, a lot of good individual performances and that’s most important, that we have like 50-ish minutes for everybody and, again, nobody got injured. A good camp and I’m really happy.”

Jurgen Klopp on German camp

The Liverpool manager was happy with how their time in Germany unfolded over the recent days. “The camp was top, absolutely top-class – we cannot say differently. And if we can, we will try to come back because the circumstances were perfect, we could do everything we wanted to do. We got massive support from the local club, SV Aasen, they were really, really helpful, so that was nice,” he added.

“It’s really nice that Greuther Furth came here to play us, because for us we are now on the way home pretty much and it was quite a trip for them to get here. But I think the few people that were here and everybody [watching] on the screen… I know nobody wants to concede four goals, but at least there were eight goals! How I said, it’s OK.”
