Joaquin Correa came off the bench to score a brace as Inter Milan beat Hellas Verona 3-1. In the first half, Inter Milan goalkeeper Samir Handanovic’s poor pass allowed Verona to take the lead through Ivan Ilic. However, after the break, Simone Inzaghi regrouped his side. They leveled through Lautaro Martinez’s header. Correa scored a double to seal the win. Elsewhere, Udinese Calcio thrashed Venezia 3-0 at home courtesy of goals from Ignacio Pussetto, Gerard Deulofeu, and Nahuel Molina.

Martinez, who was coming back after suspension, immediately forced a save from Lorenzo Montipo. But at the other end, Handanovic’s attempted pass to Marcelo Brozovic went to Ilicic. He calmly chipped the ball over the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 for the home side.

After conceding the goal, Inter lost control of the midfield and was pushed to the back foot. Although Inter did score in the 39th minute, it was disallowed as Martinez had nudged Montipo.

Two minutes after the restart, Ivan Perisic’s long throw from the left was flicked on by Edin Dzeko. He found Martinez to head in from close range. In response, at the other end, Marco Davide Faraoni’s header was deflected over the goal by Dzeko from close range.

Dzeko, who joined Inter Milan from Roma this summer has been quite fruitful so far. The big Bosnian was brought in as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku. His combination with Martinez seems to be working well. Inter nearly scored an identical goal to their equalizer, as Dzeko and Martinez combined again. But, this time Martinez’s half-volley was off-target.

Correa’s dream debut for Inter Milan

Montipo made a full-stretch save from Alessandro Bastoni’s angled drive. Meanwhile, new signing Correa came on for the last 17 minutes and made an immediate impact. The Argentine scored with a brilliant header in the 83rd minute. Matteo Darmian did well to keep Arturo Vidal’s pass in play. He whipped in a cross from the right for Correa to steer the ball into the top corner with a brilliant towering header.

To put the icing on the cake, the 27-year-old completed his brace with a left-footed low drive from outside the box, and sealed the three points for the defending champion. The Nerazzurri have six points from two games and sit on top of the table.

“I think we had approached the game well in the first quarter of an hour, then we conceded and for the rest of the half we could have done better, but sometimes it is right to give credit to the opponent. Verona played an excellent match, they are an organized team and will give everyone a hard time. Congratulations must be made to the whole team,” Inzaghi stated.

Inzahi added about Correa (Tucu). “Everyone was good, then it was clear that for Tucu, a debut with two goals in 10 minutes, it was a magnificent evening, for him and for all the fans who cheered us on for all 90 minutes, and it is right to dedicate the victory to them,” Inzaghi said.

Udinese 3-0 Venezia

In the other match of the day, Luca Gotti’s side started the scoring through Pussetto on 29 minutes. Nahuel Molina’s cross from the right flank after a brilliant 50-yard run was chested down and smashed past Luca Lezzerini by Pussetto.

20 minutes from time, the home side extended the lead through Deulofeu. Tolgay Arslan’s initial attempt was blocked by Lezzerini but the rebound fell to Deulofeu who calmly slotted the ball into the net. It was a dominant performance from Udinese as Molina completed the drubbing with a 93rd minute strike.
