Huddersfield Town will be aiming to make it four consecutive wins in the EFL Championship when they host Blackburn Rovers at John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a thrilling 3-2 win away to Watford on Friday, while the Rovers were beaten 2-0 by Norwich City. The victory helped the Terriers to move out of the relegation zone and into the 20th spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 42 points from 40 games, just a solitary point away from the drop zone. The visitors, meanwhile, have a game in hand and are sitting at the sixth position, with 61 points to their name, only one point clear of seventh-placed Norwich City.

Huddersfield are going through an inspirational turnaround under the stewardship of Neil Warnock, who took charge of the relegation-battlers in February. The Terriers secured all three points against mid-table side Watford at Vicarage Road thanks to goals from Jack Rudoni, Matty Pearson and Kian Harratt. It was their third consecutive victory and 11th one of the second tier this season. Warnock’s side have lost only one of their last six games, while collecting 11 points, during that period, which is almost double of what they had taken from their first ten league-games of 2023. Meanwhile, Huddersfield have recorded seven wins and five draws from their 20 second tier games at John Smith’s Stadium this season.
Since the 2-1 win over Reading, thanks to goals from Ben Brereton Diaz and Ryan Hedges, mid-way through March, the Riversiders have lost three back-to-back games, including a FA Cup loss to Sheffield United and two Championship-defeats against Birmingham City and Norwich. On Friday, Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side suffered their 16th league-defeat of the season against the Canaries courtesy of two unanswered goals from Liam Gibbs and Gabriel Sara. Although the Rovers have the second-best home-record in the league this season, having taken 40 points from a possible 57 at Ewood Park, there away-form has been pretty poor, winning just six of their 20 second tier matches on the road. Meanwhile, Blackburn secured a narrow 1-0 win over the Terriers in the reverse fixture in November last year through Brereton Diaz’s first-half goal.
Huddersfield Town probable starting lineup: Vaclik, Lees, Helik, Pearson, Edmonds-Green, Hogg, Kasumu, Ruffels, Rudoni, Ward, Koroma
Blackburn Rovers probable starting lineup: Pears, Brittain, Carter, Hyam, Pickering, Travis, Morton, Dolan, Szmodics, Brereton Diaz, Gallagher
