Lazio’s form since the return of competitive action following the World Cup break has been pretty hot and cold, having recorded three wins, two draws and two defeats in seven matches across all competitions. Their last victory came against reigning champions AC Milan (4-0) on January 24, courtesy of goals from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Zatia Zacagni, Luis Alberto and Felipe Anderson. However, after that, Maurizzio Sarri side were held to a 1-1 draw by Fiorentina, five days later, before getting knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Juventus. Gleison Bremer’s lone goal on the stroke of half-time was enough to end Lazio’s run in the Cup competition.
Verona, on the other hand, are going through a decent run of form, having pocketed eight points from their last five outings. Last time out, Marco Zaffaroni’s side earned a point against Udinese away from home. The Yellow and Blues took an early lead, courtesy of Rodrio Becao’s fourth-minute own goal, before Lazar Samardzic leveled the score for Udinese mid-way through the first half. A vastly improved defensive performance has been key to the Scaligers’s latest success. Lorezno Montipo has conceded just three times since the turn of the year.
Lazio centre-back Patric picked up a thigh injury in Turin and is doubtful for Monday’s game. Ciro Immobile is expected to lead the line, with Felipe Anderson and Mattia Zaccagni in support. Meanwhile, January signing Luca Pellegrini might feature at some stage. As for Verona, Thoomas Henry is sidelined with an ACL injury. New arrivals Jayden Braaf, Ondrej Duda and Adolfo Gaich are likely to start on the bench, with Milan Djuric spearheading the attack.
Hellas Verona Probable line-up: Montipo, Ceccherini, Hien, Dawidowicz, Depaoli, Sulemana, Tameze, Doig, Lazovic, Lasagna, Djuric
Lazio probable line-up: Provedel, Lazzari, Romagnoli, Casale, Marusic, Milinkovic-Savic, Cataldi, Alberto, Anderson, Immobile, Zaccagni
