Fantasy Premier League managers are allowed one free transfer per week. As the competition gains momentum, some managers may have saved two free transfers, while others may be considering taking a four-point hit or more to enhance their chances of achieving success. Given the ever-changing player prices and performance in the early weeks of the season, we have identified five players who, in light of their upcoming fixtures and current individual form, we believe are worth considering as the Premier League enters the new gameweek.

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool – Midfielder (12.5)

Arguably the most consistently performing midfielder in the Fantasy Premier League, Mohamed Salah has been somewhat underrated. He has consistently earned points in every gameweek so far. Despite not meeting his own exceptional goal-scoring standards, having only scored two goals in five games, Salah’s real strength lies in his assists. He has already registered four assists this season and seems to be adapting to a new role as a playmaker for the rest of the forward line. While his price tag of 12.5 million is relatively high, he is a reliable source of points and could be an excellent choice for the captaincy, especially if you’re looking for someone other than Erling Haaland.

Pedro Neto, Wolves – Midfielder (5.5)

Neto is a cost-effective midfield choice that FPL managers can consider. He is currently in great form, having scored 22 points in recent matches. As a speedy winger who excels at dribbling past opponents, delivering crosses, and taking shots on goal, Neto possesses the qualities needed for both scoring and providing assists in the midfield role. Wolves are expected to have control over their upcoming match against Luton, and the clash with Manchester City should align well with Neto’s skill in exploiting counter-attacking opportunities.

Odsonne Edouard, Crystal Palace – Forward (5.5)

Many managers are in the need of an affordable strike partner for Haaland and Odsonne Edouard fits the bill perfectly. The Crystal Palace forward is having a great season, benefiting from more consistent playing time with the Eagles. In Fantasy Premier League, he has only failed to score points in two games and has managed to find the back of the net four times in just five matches. Palace has struggled to score in only one of their games, which was against Arsenal. Looking ahead, they have fixtures against Fulham, Manchester United, and Nottingham Forest, which they will be aiming to win. If they succeed, Edouard is likely to play a significant role and could add a couple of goals to his tally.

Robert Sanchez, Chelsea – Goalkeeper (4.5)

Chelsea’s performance this year has been poor. However, for the most part, they have displayed defensive stability in their five matches, except for a 3-1 loss to West Ham. Robert Sanchez is Mauricio Pochettino’s first-choice goalkeeper, ensuring him regular playing time, and he recently scored an impressive 10 points with a clean sheet and three bonus points against Bournemouth. In the next three fixtures, Chelsea faces Aston Villa, Fulham, and Burnley. Therefore, considering Sanchez as a replacement for your current goalkeeper could be a good move.

Sven Botman, Newcastle – Defender (4.5)

Selecting the Newcastle center-back comes with a certain level of risk, as your success with him lies on Newcastle’s ability to maintain clean sheets. He poses a threat in aerial duels during set pieces, but he doesn’t frequently find the back of the net, so any goals he does score should be considered as added bonuses. Eddie Howe’s team has struggled defensively, conceding seven goals in five games and securing just one clean sheet. However, their recent performance against Brentford was promising, and it’s likely they will achieve more clean sheets in their upcoming matches against Sheffield United and Burnley. As an affordable defensive option, Botman might be a good choice for the future.
