Fantasy Premier League managers are given one free transfer per week, but given the ongoing competition, some may have reserved two free tranfers for their teams, while others might be contemplating taking a four-point hit or more to enhance their chances of achieving success. As the Premier League enters the new gameweek, here are five players we believe should be under your attention, taking into account upcoming fixtures and the current form of individual players.

Alphonse Areola, West Ham – Goalkeeper

Areola is a cost-effective option at just 4.1 million, with an average of five points per game, including a standout performance of 10 points during the second gameweek against Chelsea. While the Hammers are set to face tough fixtures against Man City at home and Liverpool away in the upcoming weeks, Areola could serve as an economical option to pair with a more expensive goalkeeper who has challenging fixtures in gameweeks seven and eight. This strategy has the potential to get points against Sheffield United at home and Newcastle at home.

Destiny Udogie, Tottenham – Defender

The 4.7m defender has recorded 22 points in his last three matches making him valuable choice for those looking to reorganize their squad. He has already got two assists in the current season, and Tottenham’s upcoming fixture is against Sheffield United, although it’s possible there might be some rotation given the challenging matches against Liverpool and Arsenal. However, following those two tough encounters, Tottenham’s schedule becomes more favorable. Udogie could emerge as a high-scoring asset, particularly if there’s room to substitute him out during the challenging fixtures.

Bryan Mbeumo, Brentford – Midfielder

The 6.8m midfielder has kicked off the season in an impressive fashion, maintaining an average of 8.2 points per game and bagging four goals already. Although facing Newcastle away in the upcoming week could prove challenging for Brentford, they have fixtures against Everton and Nottingham Forest in the following matches. While he may not be the most budget-friendly choice, he represents a relatively cost-effective alternative compared to other midfielders.

James Maddison, Tottenham – Midfielder

Tottenham’s recent three-match winning streak indicates their strength, making it an ideal moment to get their players into your squad. Maddison, a 7.8m midfielder, has been exceptional since his arrival at the club, maintaining an average of 7.2 points per game, contributing with two goals and two assists. While his price may be on the higher side, it could potentially yield a valuable return on investment over time.

Julian Alvarez, Manchester City – Forward

Forwards, especially those from Manchester City, typically carry a hefty price, making Alvarez a comparatively affordable option at just 6.7m. He has maintained an average of seven points per game, scoring two goals and providing three assists. Considering City’s forthcoming three fixtures are against West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves, this could be an ideal moment to improve your team with some added support from Alvarez.
