Empoli’s last win came against Inter Milan towards the end of January, courtesy of Tommaso Baldanzi’s lone goal in the second-half. Since then, the Blues have gone on an eight-game winless streak, losing their last four matches. Last time out, Paolo Zanetti’s side lost to Atlanta despite taking the lead through Tyronne Ebuehi’s 44th-minute effort. The Blues are nine points clear of the drop zone and need to start picking up points to avoid being sucked into the relegation-battle.
Lecce, meanwhile, are also going through a similar run of form, having lost their last four games. Marco Baroni’s side were beaten away to Fiorentina last time out, courtesy of Antonio Gallo’s own goal midway through the first half. The Wolves have recorded six league-wins this season and the latest of those triumphs came against top four challengers Atlanta (2-1) at Gewiss Stadium mid-way through February, courtesy of goals from Assan Ceesay and Alexis Blin. The Salentians returned to the top division this season courtesy of winning the Serie B last term and staying eight points clear of the drop zone, with 11 rounds of matches remaining should be viewed as a positive.
