The Eagles are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win away to Sheffield United last weekend, while the Gunners got the better of Nottingham Forest.
Crystal Palace will host Arsenal in a Premier League fixture at Selhurst Park on Monday night. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of narrow wins in their opening games of the 2023-24 English top flight season last weekend, with the hosts edging past newly promoted Sheffield United 1-0 at the Bramall Lane, while the Gunners defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1. The Eagles had finished at the 11th spot in the league standings last term courtesy of collecting 45 points from 38 games, and would be aiming to challenge for a European qualification this time around. The visitors, meanwhile, claimed second place, with 84 points to their name, five points adrift of champions Manchester City and are touted to be one of the favourites to lift the trophy this term.

Crystal Palace produced a dominant performance against Sheffield United in their curtain-raiser, creating 24 chances, with eight attempts on target, compared to just a solitary shot on target by the Blades. Odsonne Edouard’s lone goal four minutes into the second half separated the two sides in South Yorkshire and helped the Eagles take all three points. Meanwhile, Selhurst Park was kind of a fortress for Crystal Palace last season, losing only five games at home throughout the campaign, while taking 11 points from the final 15 on offer in front of their own supporters. Therefore, Roy Hodgson will be optimistic about taking all three points from their first home match of the 2023-24 campaign.
Arsenal, on the other hand, will be looking to extend their perfect start to the new campaign, having kicked off with a victory over Manchester City in the FA Community Shield final on August 6, before getting the better of Nottingham in the Premier League almost a week later. First half efforts from Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka helped Mikel Arteta’s side take a 2-0 lead, before the Tricky Trees pulled one back through Taiwo Awonyi’s 82nd-minute effort, but the hosts held on to the slender lead and secured all three points. Mikel Arteta’s side were solid on their travels last term, recording ten clean sheets on away territories, by far the most in the English top flight. Such a record will definitely give huge confidence boost to the Gunners ahead of their first away-match of the campaign.
