Coventry went into the World Cup break on the back of four consecutive wins. But, after the resumption of competitive action, Mark Robins’s side have lost some momentum, having won just one of their five games this month, while losing two. Their defeats came against Reading and Sheffield United. The Sky Blues’ only win this month came against West Bromwich Albion on December 22, courtesy of Viktor Gyokeres’ lone goal in the third minute of extra time. Bristol City, on the other hand, have prevailed in just two of their last 11 games in the Championship. Nigel Pearson’s side’s previous victory came against Rotherham United (3-0) on December 10, through Wes Harding’s own goal and strikes from Joe Williams and Cameron Pring. It was only their seventh league-win of the season.
Coventry are unlikely to make too many changes to the side that started against Cardiff.Waghorn and Gyokeres might form the attacking duo with Allen operating behind them in a free role. As for Bristol City, Pearson could continue with the 3-5-2 formation, with Vyner, Atkinson and Naismith forming the back-three. Pring and Tanner might occupy the flanks, with Weiman, James and Scott pulling the strings in the midfield, and Semenyo partnering Wells up front.
