Coventry City will host Watford in an EFL Championship fixture at Coventry Building Society Arena on Monday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a goalless draw away to Swansea City on Friday, while Watford ended up on the losing side of a five-goal thriller against relegation-battlers Huddersfield Town. The Sky Blues are currently occupying ninth spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 58 points from 40 games, just three points adrift of the top six. The visitors, meanwhile, are sitting three places behind Coventry, trailing by three points.

Coventry are going through a bit of a rough patch, having won only one of their last five league-matches, while collecting only six points during that period. The Sky Blues’ 15th and last second tier victory of the season came against Blackbool (4-1) at Bloomfield Road just before the international break last month, thanks to Ben Sheaf’s opener, and own goal by Curtis Nelson on the stroke of half-time and two second-half efforts from Kyle McFadzean and Matt Godden. After that, Mark Robins’ side were thrashed 4-0 by Stoke City, before sharing the spoils away to the Swans last time out. Coventry have been relatively strong at home this season, collecting 33 points from a possible 60 at Coventry Building Society Arena. Meanwhile, the Sky Blues secured a narrow 1-0 win over Watford in the reverse fixture in November last year, through Viktor Gyokere’s 50th-minute effort.
Watford, on the other hand, have recorded just four wins from their 15 Championship-matches in 2023. After the dominant 3-0 victory over Birmingham City mid-way through March, courtesy of goals from Imran Louza, Keinan Davis and Britt Assombalonga, the Hornets went on a three-game winless streak, that included a 1-1 draw against Wigan Athletic and back-to-back defeats to Luton Town and Huddersfield. On Friday, Chris Wilder’s side lost to Huddersfield despite the fact that Yaser Asprilla and Assombalonga found the back of the net at Vicarage Road. Meanwhile, Watford’s away-form this term hasn’t been very great, winning just five of their 20 league-matches on the road.
Coventry City probable starting lineup: Wilson, McNally, McFadzean, Doyle, Norton-Cuffy, Sheaf, Hamer, Eccles, Wilson-Esbrand, Godden, Gyokeres
Watford probable starting lineup: Hamer, Porteous, Cathcart, Hoedt, Ngakia, Choudhury, Louza, Sema, Asprilla, Pedro, Assombalonga
