These two teams faced off in their final league-fixture last Monday and the match ended in a 1-1 draw after Middlesbrough attacker Cameron Archer canceled out Gustavo Hamer's 22nd-minute opener.

Coventry are heading into the match on the back of a seven-game unbeaten run in the second tier, winning three times in the period. The Sky Blues recorded 18 league-wins this season and their latest success came against Birmingham City towards the end of April thanks to two unanswered goals from Josh Eccles and Viktor Gyokeres. After languishing at the relegation zone in the first couple of months, Marck Robins’s men turned things around in style, losing just one of their final 17 Championship-matches to earn a fifth spot. Meanwhile, Coventry’s home-form has been pretty good, having recorded five wins, three draws and just two defeats from their last ten league-games at Coventry Building Society Arena.
Middlesbrough, on the other hand, are winless in their last four away matches in the second tier, while losing three outings in the period. Since it became clear that Boro would not finish in the automatic promotion places and a top-four was all but guaranteed, their results have dropped off. This is partly due to the injuries to some of the key players. Like Coventry, Middlesbrough spent time in the drop zone in the early stages of the season, before Michael Carrick took charge of the team and instigated a remarkable turn around. Boro recorded just three league-defeats across November and March, while winning 16 Championship-games in the period. However, Just two wins from their last eight matches is hardly ideal form heading into the playoff tie.
Coventry City probable starting lineup: Wilson, McNally, McFadzean, Doyle, Norton-Cuffy, Hamer, Kelly, Eccles, Bidwell, Gyokeres, Godden
Middlesbrough probable starting lineup: Steffen, Smith, McNair, Lenihan, Giles, Hackney, Mowatt, Jones, Akpom, McGree, Archer
