Bristol City will host West Bromwich Albion in an EFL Championship fixture at Ashton Gate on Monday evening. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of  defeats in their last outings. The hosts were beaten 2-1 by Stoke City on December 17, while West Brom suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Coventry, four days later. Bristol City are currently occupying 18th position in the standings, having collected 27 points from 23 games, while the visitors are sitting two places above them, with two points more to their name.

Bristol City lost to the Potters on Saturday, despite taking the lead through Nahki Wells’ 33rd-minute strike. It was their 10th league-defeat of the campaign. Meanwhile, prior to that, Nigel Pearson’s side thrashed Rotherham United 3-1 in their first match after the World Cup break. West Brom, on the other hand, resumed competitive action with back-to-back wins over Sunderland (2-1) and Rotherham (3-0) before losing out to Coventry, away from home, courtesy of Viktor Gyokeres’ dramatic 93rd-minute strike. It was only their second defeat under the  stewardship of Carlos Corberan. Meanwhile, Albion are just five points away from playoffs.

Probable Lineups 

Bristol City defender Tomas Kalas is sidelined with an injury, while Robert Atkinson is expected to replace Andy King in the defence after the latter’s defensive errors proved costly against the Potters in the previous game. As for West Brom, Daryl Dike, the big centre forward, could replace Brandon Thomas Asante in the starting eleven on Monday. Meanwhile, defender Semi Ajayi is back from injury and was an unused substitute against Coventry in the mid-week.
