Braga began their 2022-23 Europa League campaign with a 2-0 win over Malmo on September 8, before getting the better of Union Berlin 1-0, a week later. Against the Bundesliga outfit, Vitor Oliveira’s lone goal, thirteen minutes from time, was enough to secure all three points for Braga. Meanwhile in the dometic circuit, the Archbishops have won six of their opening eight games to be sitting at the second position in the Portuguese top flight standings. The Minho Warriors’ lone league defeat of the season came against Porto last Saturday.
Union SG, on the other hand, are occupying fourth spot in the Belgian Pro League standings, having recorded six wins from 10 games to collect 19 points, eight adrift of leaders Antwerp. Meanwhile, in the Europa League, Karel Geraerts’ side have won both their opening group games against Union Berlin (1-0) and Malmo (3-2), last month. Against the Swedish club, Christian Burgess, Teddy Teuma and Victor Boniface netted for Union SG to secure all three points.

Braga defender Nuno Sequeira is doubtful for Thursday’s game because of an injury he sustained against Porto on Saturday. Therefore Alvaro Djalo is in line to join the likes of Tormena, Niakate and Fabiano in the back-four. As for Union SG, German striker Dennis Eckert is nursing an injury, while defender Koki Machida is also occupying the medical room because of a hip problem. Boniface is expected to partner Vanzeir up front.
