After returning to action following the international break, Blackburn secured back-to-back wins over Stoke City and Birmingham City. However, the Riversiders started the month of December with a 3-1 defeat away to Sheffield Wednesday and then followed it up wit a 2-0 loss against Leeds at the weekend. Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side suffered their tenth league defeat of the season against the Whites on Saturday courtesy of two unanswered goals from Daniel James and Crysencio Summerville. Meanwhile, Blackburn’s form at Ewood Park hasn’t been great so far this season, recording four wins and six defeats from their ten second tier games at their Lancashire base.
Bristol City, on the other hand, have recorded seven league wins this term, and their last success came against Middlesbrough on November 25. After that, the Robins suffered back-to-back defeats against the likes of Southampton and Norwich City before sharing the spoils away to Huddersfield at the weekend. Liam Manning’s side came from behind to earn a point against the Terriers thanks to Tommy Conway’s equaliser immediately after the break. After back-to-back mid-table finishes, Bristol City are aiming to seriously challenge the playoff scene this season under the stewardship of ex-Oxford United boss Manning. However, in order to turn that dream into reality, the Robins will need to improve their away-form, having taken just 12 from a possible 30 Championship points on the road this season so far.
