Blaugrana are currently sitting at the summit of the Spanish top flight standings, having collected 56 points from 21 games, five points adrift of second-placed Real Madrid, who have played an extra game.
Barcelona will be aiming for a seventh consecutive La Liga-win when they host Cadiz at Camp Nou on Sunday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a pulsating 2-2 draw against Manchester United in the first leg of their Europa League tie on Thursday, while Cadiz got the better of Girona 2-0 last weekend. Blaugrana are currently sitting at the summit of the Spanish top flight standings, having collected 56 points from 21 games, five points adrift of second-placed Real Madrid, who have played an extra game. The visitors, meanwhile, are languishing at the 16th position, with 22 points to their name, just two clear of the relegation zone.

Barcelona were involved in an end-to-end encounter on Thursday, and had to dig deep to level the score in front of their home fans. Although Barca took the lead through Marcus Alonso’s 50th-minute header, they were forced to come from behind late on, with Raphinha’s long-ranger after a Marcus Rashford strike and Jules Kounde own goal put the visitors 2-1 ahead. Prior to that, Xavi’s side defeated Villareal in the league, thanks to Pedri’s lone goal inside the opening 18 minutes. It was their 18th top flight victory of the campaign. The Catalan outfit haven’t lost in the league since Real Madrid beat them 3-1 at Bernabeu in the middle of October.
Cadiz, on the other hand, have recorded just five top flight wins this season and two of those victories came in their last three outings. Sergio Goonzalez’s side defeated Mallorca 2-0 on January 28, before losing to Athletic Bilbao 4-1, a week later, and then got back on track at home against Girona, last weekend. The Yellow Submarine got the better of Girona last time out, courtesy of first-half efforts from Gonzalo Escalate and Sergio Navarro. Surprisingly, Cadiz have lost just once against Barca in the last five meeting, while recording two wins and two draws.
Barcelona midfielder Pedri suffered a hamstring injury against United and is likely to be sidelined for a couple of weeks, while Sergio Busquets is expected to come back after recovering from an ankle injury. Xavi might be tempted to rotate his squad because of the upcoming second leg of their Europa League tie at Old Trafford on Thursday. Andreas Christensen, Alejandro Balde and Sergi Roberto could come into the playing eleven, while Ronald Araujo is suspended for this match. As for Cadiz, the injury list consists of Joseba Zaldua, Jon Ander Garrido and Jose Mari, while the likes of Victor Chust, Juan Cala, Alvaro Negredo and David Gil are doubtful for the game against Blaugrana.
Barcelona United probable line-up: Ter Stegen, Kounde, Christensen, Alonso, Balde, Roberto, Kessie, De Jong, Raphinha, Lewandowski, Gavi
Cadiz Probable line-up: Ledesma, Carcelen, Fali, Hernandez, Arzamendia, Bongonda, Alcaraz, Escalante, Ocampo, Roger, Guardiola
