Atalanta will host Inter Milan in a Serie A fixture at Gewiss Stadium on Sunday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a surprise 2-1 defeat to Lecce on Wednesday, while Inter thrashed Bologna 6-1 on the same day. Atalanta have slipped down into the sixth spot following back-to-back defeats over the past week. Their last victory came against Empoli (2-0) on October 30 courtesy of goals from Hans Hateboer and Ademola Lookman. After that, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side suffered successive 2-1 defeats against Napoli and Lecce. In the mid-week, the Bergamaschi found themselves two goals down after the half-hour mark, and although Duvan Zapata pulled one back for the Black and Blues, Lecce managed to hold on to the slender lead and handed Atalanta their third league-defeat of the season.
Inter, on the other hand, bounced back from a disappointing defeat in last week’s derby d’Italia as they thrashed Bologna in the mid-week. Simone Inzaghi’s side found the back of the net six times courtesy of a brace from Federico Dimarco and one goal each from Edin Dzeko, Laurtaro Martinez, Hakan Calhanoglu and Robin Gosens. Before making the trip to Bergamo, Inter have lost four of their last six Serie A matches on the road, and have also conceded goals at a rate of more than two per game outside Milan this term.
