The standout fixture of the weekend happens between Arsenal and Manchester United at Emirates Stadium on Sunday. They both are traditional heavyweights of English football, hence there is a historic significance attached to this contest. Both sides have made decent starts to the new Premier League season and therefore will be quietly confident of getting the job done in this fixture.

They have also made some exciting additions to the first team, thereby the fans can expect to see a match of high quality on Sunday. Despite all the big name players that could be involved in this fixture, the one to keep an eye out would be a young Arsenal forward. Eddie Nketiah has made the headlines for all the right reasons following his England call up. Manager Mikel Arteta only had good words to describe him following this announcement.

Mikel Arteta on Eddie Nketiah

“I’m so pleased. If someone deserves to be in the England squad, that’s him. An academy player that had some moments when his pathway wasn’t very clear and he had to fight. I love his mentality, his work rate, how much he loves the game, and how hard he’s fought to be recognised at that level. In this country, to play there is phenomenal. I’m so happy for him,” Arteta was quoted as saying by Arsenal.com ahead of the match.

When asked whether he takes personal pride on that, Arteta replied, “Everybody that has been involved in his development feels extremely proud to be on that journey with him. Everyone that has been at the academy with him and been on that journey, his family, everyone is proud of him so it’s a really nice moment for him.”

Shifting his attention to the mouth-watering Premier League contest against Manchester United, manager Arteta said, “We know the history between the two clubs and the games that we had in the past. They were a really good example so it’s going to be a really competitive match and a big battle on Sunday. Obviously we want to come away from that with three points.”

When asked whether this contest will be an early indicator of title credentials, Arteta replied, “I don’t know. I think it’s too early in the season. We all want to win games, we all want to play the best possibly way. That’s not going to dictate but it gives you momentum and belief. Before the international break, it’s very important to finish well and win your game and go into September with another block of games on a high.”

Traditionally this fixture has seen multiple goals. Asked why it is a high scoring fixture, the Arsenal manager replied, “Well, first of all the quality of the players, there are a lot of top offensive players in the two teams and it is probably the approach of both teams, the way we want to play, there were some errors involved which hopefully we can eradicate as well, normally it’s a very entertaining fixture.”
