Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 179: Three-way Domain Expansions

The title page of Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 179 depicts the three combatants activating their expansions. In keeping with the naming theme of the culling game chapters thus far, the issue is titled Sendai Colony, Part 6.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 179 begins with a brief explanation of overlapping domains from the narrator. They state that “can’t-miss attacks cancel each other out” within overlapping domains, and that Ishigori and Uro’s goals are to keep Rika out of the barrier.

This is to avoid giving Okkoutsu the “initiative,” which will almost certainly give him an advantage in the fight.

The two then discuss how Rika may eventually try to intrude, implying that the two should keep this fight short and sweet. The narrator goes on to say that Ishigori had just knocked her 20 metres back from the expansion zone, implying that she’d never reach the barrier before construction began.

However, it is revealed that the last remnants of Rika Orimoto, the human, who resided within Rika, the Cursed Spirit, could not accept this. According to the narrator, this causes her “gears [to] be ratcheted up a notch.” As this occurs, a third eye on the Cursed Spirit’s forehead opens.

However, at that precise moment, Kurorushi reappears, declaring that he “likes the taste of iron,” implying that he enjoys bloodshed. The narrator refers to him as a “modern-day black demon” who had skittered into the barrier while Rika was distracted outside by reinforced cockroaches.

Kurorushi reproduced by parthenogenesis before going dormant, which is a reproduction from an ovum without fertilisation. In other words, it’s a type of asexual reproduction.

The narrator goes on to say that following Kurorushi’s exorcism, the “Cursed Energy of fear throughout Japan was once more poured into the child.”

Kurorushi the player is revealed to have died, but Kurorushi the Cursed Spirit lives on. The narrator returns to the three-way Domain Expansion battle, claiming that a clash of three domains is more complicated than a clash of two.

All three barriers appear to be broken as a result of the internal and external conditions of the barriers differing, as well as Kurorushi’s intrusion.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 179: Unwelcome intruders

Uro is distracted by the former player’s Cursed Spirit, allowing Yuta to take advantage and launch a sneak attack kick. The narrator explains that using Domain Expansion burns away one’s Cursed Technique, making it difficult to use. This is said as Uro tries unsuccessfully to use hers to defend herself against Kurorushi.

Kurorushi uses the Festering Life Sword to cut off Uro’s left arm after the attempt fails, causing roaches to pour out of the wound. Rika eats the severed arm, most likely to demonstrate to fans how Yuta is able to mimic the Cursed Techniques of others.

Uro blames Okkotsu for her arm loss here, calling him a Fujiwara once more. Meanwhile, Ishigori tells her it’s enough and that he didn’t invite “you guys to this table,” referring to her and Kurorushi. As he launches a Granite Blast towards the two, the narrator explains that his Cursed Technique is Cursed Energy Discharge.

The narrator emphasises that Ishigori is the only sorcerer who can release the same amount of power whether or not his Cursed Technique is activated. Uro is then completely knocked out in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 179, while Kurorushi is conscious but missing several limbs.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 179: Final Pages

Yuta appears to kill Kurorushi, the Cursed Spirit, in the same manner in which he killed Kurorushi, the player, by grabbing his head and blasting Cursed Energy into it. He approaches Ishigori, trailed by Rika, with a battle-ready expression on his face.

Ishigori greets him internally before saying his name aloud and pointing a finger gun at him.

A panel with various pastry desserts lined up on a table is seen, most likely teasing an aspect of Ishigori’s character that will be revealed later. The final panels of Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 179 depict the two assuming battle stances, while the narrator emphasises that Okkoutsu’s Cursed Technique has yet to be replenished.

On the final page of the issue, we see Ishigori and Rika, with another panel of desserts in between them. As the chapter comes to a close, Yuta says to Rika, “let’s go.” There is no mention of a break next week.
