Oshi no Ko has returned with its second episode, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The episode titled “Third Option” brings new twists and turns to the story, with the introduction of new characters and the re-opening of Strawberry Production’s idol unit. Here’s a breakdown of what went down in the latest episode.

Ruby’s Idol Dreams and Aquamarine’s Sabotage

The episode opens with a ten-year time skip, and we find out that Ai’s idol group B Komachi has been disbanded, and Ichigo and Miyako have moved on. Ruby, on the other hand, has been chasing her dream of becoming an idol, but has been unsuccessful due to Aquamarine’s sabotage. It’s heartbreaking to see Ruby being rejected from multiple idol groups due to Aquamarine’s false rejection notices.

Miyako’s Decision to Reopen Strawberry Production’s Idol Unit

Miyako, who had closed down Strawberry Production’s idol unit, decides to reopen it to support Ruby’s dream of becoming an idol. This decision not only gives Ruby a new opportunity to pursue her dream but also marks the beginning of a new chapter for Strawberry Production.

Aquamarine’s Dream and Gotanda’s Advice

While Aquamarine has been sabotaging Ruby’s dreams, he has given up on his own dream of becoming an actor. He is content with being a director’s apprentice and is focused on finding his father. Gotanda advises Aquamarine not to give up on his dreams so easily, which makes Aquamarine recall Ai’s last words to him. This moment is particularly touching, as we see Aquamarine struggling with his own dreams and aspirations.

Admission into Youtou High School

Ruby and Aquamarine are admitted into Youtou High School, which has a performing arts department. While visiting the school, they run into Kana again, who is shocked to find out that Aquamarine is enrolled in the general education department instead of performing arts. This encounter sets the stage for what could be a very interesting dynamic between the three characters.

Final Thoughts

Oshi no Ko episode 2 is an excellent continuation of the story. The episode brings in new characters and develops existing ones, setting up the stage for future conflicts and resolutions. The animation quality remains top-notch, and the music perfectly complements the tone of the episode. The pacing of the episode is just right, and the ending leaves us wanting more. We can’t wait to see what happens next in the story of Ruby and Aquamarine.
