The Plot

Even though Fuutarou Uesugi is a model student, he has a rough existence outside of school. He lives alone due to his withdrawn character and lack of social skills; his family is struggling to make ends meet because of his father’s mounting debt.

While on lunch one day, Uesugi gets into an argument with a female transfer student who had taken “his seat,” and the two of them end up hating each other. The very same day, he finds a fantastic opportunity to pay off his family’s debt: a job as a private tutor for the daughter of a rich family, paying five times the going rate. After agreeing to work with the customer, Itsuki Nakano, he is shocked to learn that she is the same girl he had earlier approached!

After failing miserably at winning Itsuki back, Uesugi learns that his troubles are far from over. Not only does Itsuki happen to be a quintuplet, but her sisters Miku, Yotsuba, Nino, and Ichika also require his tutoring—despite the fact that they face the very real danger of failing—and they refuse to cooperate. But since his family’s financial stability is at stake, Uesugi remains determined to overcome the sisters’ hatred of schoolwork and see them through to graduation.
