Fans of the series were looking forward to the reveal of Yuta’s cursed technique, thanks in part to the popularity of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film and him being a fan favourite.
The previous chapter met manga readers’ expectations, with Akutami’s trademark elaborate info-dumps explaining Yuta’s technique and Rika’s reappearance. The current chapter, on the other hand, was enthralling, promising a triple Domain Expansion showdown between Yuta, Takako Uro, and Ishigori Ryu in chapter 179.
The first page of chapter 179, titled Sendai Colony Part 6, was leaked, and it featured close-ups of Takako, Yuta, and Ishigori. While the raw scans are haphazard, it is clear that chapter 179 is going to be a chaotic mess and an all-out brawl between three extremely powerful sorcerers and a special-grade cursed spirit.
According to a leaked panel, during the simultaneous domain expansions, Takako and Ishigori collaborate to maintain a domain barrier to prevent Rika from intruding, gaining the upper hand to overwhelm Yuta.

However, Rika, who carries Orimoto Rika’s will, is unable to accept this, causing her cursed energy levels to rise.
The leaked panels that follow this one are a game changer for the chapter. With three domains vying for supremacy, the cursed energy levels were already extremely volatile. As a result, the sudden appearance of Kurourushi’s spawn shatters the barrier, causing all three domains to disintegrate.
Kurorushi bred via parthenogenesis while hibernating, giving birth to an offspring. Upon destruction, all of the former’s cursed energy was transferred to the latter. Kurourushi, as a Culling Game player, is no longer alive, but as a cursed spirit, he lives on.
Yuta notices Takako appears ill-equipped to fight the cockroach cursed spirit and takes advantage of the opportunity to attack Takako with Rika. Kurourushi 2.0 is shown in the panel attacking her with the Festering Life Blade, causing cursed cockroaches to sprout from her shoulder and severing her arm. Rika immediately grabs the severed arm and appears to be eating it.
Ishigori’s ruthlessness is revealed in the panel where he uses Granite Blast on both Takako and Kurourushi at the same time, knocking the former out. Though she is most likely still alive, this could make her a sitting duck for murder at any time.
This is exactly what happens to the cursed spirit after Ishigori seriously injures it when Yuta blasts off Kurourushi’s head, presumably by converting cursed energy into positive energy using Reverse Cursed Technique.
The final panel of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 179 depicts Yuta and Ishigori finally facing off, with the latter using dessert analogies to express his eagerness to fight Yuta, who calmly calls Rika. A slightly foreboding side note mentions that his cursed technique has not fully recovered.
According to the notes on the first page of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 179, the chapter will be the “climax” of the arc. While the raw scans do not show the participants’ actual domains, it is hoped that the chapter will show how each player’s domain manifests.
Chapter 179 could also go into more detail about Yuta’s cursed technique, which is a testament to his skill given that he can keep in touch with Rika even while using Domain Expansion.
