Rovman Powell is a professional cricketer, who belongs to Jamaica. He presently plays for West Indies Cricket Team Internationally. He currently serves as the captain of the West Indies team. In domestic cricket he plays for Jamaica. He was born on 23 July, 1993 in Kingston, Jamaica. Right from Powell’s birth, he lives with his mother Joan Plumar and his younger sister. He attended Old Harbour High School in his early days. Powell used to look after his sister and his mother used to do multiple jobs to earn their livelihood. Eventually in his teenage years he got the sports scholarship for the University Of West Indies, where he learned topics like social studies.
It was in January 2015, when Powell got to play his List A debut match in 2014-15 Regional Super50 for Jamaica Combined Campuses against Guyana. He was able to take 3 wickets for just 20 runs and made 31 runs on his debut match. He was named as man of the match for his outstanding performance. In the 2015-16 Regional 4 day tournament, he played his first class debut match for Jamaica against Guyana. In the 2016-17 Regional Super50, Powell played the most crucial role in taking Jamaica to the finals. He took 5 wickets and made 95 runs, and this was his best ever performance in List A class cricket. He was awarded the man of the match award for his extraordinary performance.

In the 2017 Caribbean Premier League, Powell was signed by Jamaica Tallawahs. He was given his white ball contract by the West Indies Cricket Board for the 2018-19 season. He served as the captain of Jamaica’s team in the 2019-20 Regional Super50 tournament. He became the leading run scorer for his team in the tournament, scoring 412 runs in just 8 matches. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), 2017 season, Powell was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for 30 Lakhs. In the Bangladesh Premier League 2018-19 season, he was selected by Dhaka Dynamites. Powell got to play in the Pakistan Super League for Peshawar Zalmi in the 2021 season.
In the 2022 season of Indian Premier League, Powell was bought by Delhi Capitals in the mega auction. Powell got to play his One Day International debut match for West Indies against Sri Lanka in the tri series. On 26 March, 2017 against Pakistan, Powell played his T20 International debut match. After the World Cup Qualifiers for the 2019 World Cup, Powell was named as the rising star in the West Indies team by the International Cricket Council. For the tour of Bangladesh, he was named as the captain of the ODI team. Powell in his International career has played a total of 105 matches including ODI and T20I. He has scored a total of 1917 runs in both the formats of the game. Powell has shown his skills both as a batsman and as a bowler. His consistent performance helps him lead the West Indies team.
