While Ashwin delivered an exceptional five-wicket performance in England's second innings, his fellow Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav also impressed, securing four wickets.
Following the culmination of the third day’s play in the fourth Test between India and England, seasoned Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin opened up about his persistent knee issues. This disclosure raises apprehensions for India, given Ashwin’s integral role in the team’s red-ball cricket performances. Notably, on Sunday, he achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing the legendary Anil Kumble as the Indian bowler with the highest number of wickets in Tests on home soil.
“I’ve been grappling with some knee issues for some inexplicable reason. It takes me 10-12 balls to warm up. I had a warm-up before entering the field as well,” Ashwin shared after the Ranchi Test on Sunday.
Elaborating further, he stated, “Once I got my length right, that’s when I decided to attempt it (the carrom ball) because I did not want to concede extra runs, especially when we were chasing. Every single run in a chase is a significant bonus. The entire bowling unit displayed phenomenal character,” added Ashwin.

While Ashwin delivered an exceptional five-wicket performance in England’s second innings, his fellow Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav also impressed, securing four wickets.
“I thought Kuldeep bowled brilliantly. What impressed me about Kuldeep today was the way he fine-tuned his run-up, momentum, and related aspects. We all recognize his ability to impart revolutions on the ball. The change of pace altering the trajectory, which he is now willing to execute, is commendable. I am genuinely happy for him. As for the fifer, well, that’s how the game unfolds (smiles),” he concluded.
