Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma joyously announced the birth of their second child, a baby boy named Akaay, in a heartfelt social media post on Tuesday. Born on February 15, the couple shared their happiness, urging everyone to respect their privacy during this special time. The distinctive name Akaay has stirred curiosity, believed to originate from the Hindi word ‘kaya,’ signifying ‘body,’ and in Turkish, translating to ‘shining moon.’ Akaay has already become a social media sensation, with Virat Kohli’s post garnering over five million likes within an hour.

Celebrities from the film and cricket industry flooded the comments with well-wishes, including actors Ranveer Singh and Rakul Preet Singh, along with IPL teams like Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The couple, married in 2017, welcomed their first child, Vamika, on January 11, 2021. While the second pregnancy was initially kept private, former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers inadvertently revealed the news. Currently, on personal leave, Virat Kohli received warm wishes for the latest addition to their family.

Kohli opted to skip the initial two matches due to personal reasons, and with the series level at 1-1, his absence remains unchanged for the upcoming games in Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamshala. BCCI secretary Jay Shah expressed full support for Kohli’s decision in the squad release, which also featured Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul returning from recent injuries.

This marks the first instance where Kohli will be absent for an entire home Test series since his debut in 2011, potentially providing a boost for England. Despite being 35 years old, Kohli maintains his status as the highest-ranked Test batsman for his country (seventh globally) and boasts an impressive average of 60 on home turf. His absence will be a notable change for the Indian team, given his significant role in their 11-year continuous streak of series victories in India.
