James Anderson is a professional cricketer, who plays for England cricket team Internationally. James has represented the England cricket team in all the three formats of the game. Anderson is now a part of England’s Test team precisely and he is a right arm fast bowler who is capable of taking wickets and destroying the opposition batting line-up. Anderson was born on 30 July 1982 in the Burnley region of Lancashire, England. Anderson represents Lancashire County Cricket Club in domestic cricket. He has been a part of England’s T20 team that won the 2010 ICC T20 world cup. Since 2003 Anderson has been a part of International cricket, as he made his debut in Test cricket for England. He is considered to be one of the best swing bowlers in the world. He is capable of inswinging and outswinging the ball with tremendous pace.

James Anderson did his schooling from St. Mary and St. Theodore’s RC high school in Burnley. Anderson used to play for Burnley Cricket Club in his early age. He was one of the fastest bowlers in Lancashire in his early age. Anderson’s first competitive appearance came for Lancashire in 2000 in the NatWest Trophy against Suffolk. In 2002, Anderson played his first class debut match for Lancashire and grabbed 50 wickets in 13 matches including three 5-fers. When the 2009 domestic cricketing season was about to end, Anderson took his best match figures in first class. He took 1 wickets and gave 109 runs against Sussex and made Lancashire win the match by 8 wickets. As per the stats, Anderson took 188 wickets from 48 first class matches for Lancashire up-till April 2009.

After playing consistently well in first class cricket, Anderson was included in England’s Test team in 2003 against Zimbabwe. Anderson took 5 wickets in the first innings of his debut match. In 2002, Anderson had his debut in One Day International (ODI) against Australia. In the year 2003, while playing against Pakistan in an ODI at Oval, Anderson became the first England bowler to take a hat-trick in an ODI. In 2008, Anderson was selected in England’s team for their T20 and ODI series against New Zealand, however, Anderson wasn’t able to create a major impact in the series. Anderson was looking out of form, but later Anderson and Stuart Broad were called up to join the England Test team in place of Steve Harmison and Matthew Hoggard. Removal of Steve and Matthew and selection of Anderson and Broad over them was marked as the end of an era and the start of a new one. Anderson and Broad are considered to be one of the most destructive duos in terms of bowling.

Anderson became the second youngest bowler to take 200 Test wickets after England won the 2011 Ashes series by 3-1. Anderson took more than 15 wickets in that particular series. Anderson is the only fast bowler to take more than 300 wickets on home soil in Test cricket. After Muttiah Muralidharan, Anderson is the only bowler to take 100 wickets at Lord’s ground. Anderson holds the record of taking most 5 wicket hauls in Test cricket, as in 2020, he overtook Ian Botham’s record of 27 5 wickets haul. Anderson has played a total of 393 International matches and has taken a total of 972 wickets. He is the third highest wicket taking bowler of all time in Test cricket, as he has taken 685 wickets from 180 matches.
