Essex and Gloucestershire are all set to face each other in a South Group match of the Vitality T20 Blast 2023 on Tuesday, May 30 at the County Ground in Chelmsford. Essex, led by Simon Harmer, are yet to play a game this season and they will try to get off to a winning start as well. However, they will depend heavily on the duo of Harmer and Daniel Sams, who was also a part of Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as well.

On the other hand, Gloucestershire, led by Jack Taylor, have not done well in the tournament so far. They are placed sixth in the points table with two points and a net run rate of -1.094 as well. They started their campaign with heavy losses at the hands of Kent and Glamorgan as well. However, they won their first game after beating Middlesex by two runs. After being put in to bat first, Gloucestershire put up 181 for the loss of nine wickets and later they restricted Middlesex to 179 as well.
