Jasprit Bumrah registered yet another fifer in Test on his return to the Newlands Stadium in Cape Town. The speedster had made his Test debut four years ago at this venue. With his haul of 5/42, he helped India take a lead of 13 runs in the first innings of the ongoing third Test as well.
After getting out for only 223, the onus was once again on the Indian pace attack to put pressure on the opponents. Bumrah got off to a great start when he dismissed South Africa batsman Dean Elgar, on Day 1 itself. Later, on Day 2, he started brilliantly as he bowled Aiden Markram on the second ball of the day as well. Although the hosts managed to add crucial partnerships, the Indian pace bowler had some other plans.

But, Keegan Petersen scored a stable 72 before Jasprit Bumrah removed him with a beautiful delivery. Meanwhile, the tailenders too started doing well. The last two wickets added 31 runs before Jasprit Bumrah returned. He removed the final wicket of Lungi Ngidi to claim his 7th five-wicket haul in the longer format.
South Africa could manage 210 runs, which ensured India have a 13-run lead. With the way India’s batting order struggled throughout, it will be interesting to see how they perform.
