Batting legend Sunil Gavaskar said Team India‘s incredible Test win in Australia last year ranks among their “greatest wins” of all time. Moreover, it can be considered as a “golden chapter” in India’s cricket history as well. Notably, a young Indian team had scripted history by registering a win in the Border-Gavaskar series 2-1 was praiseworthy. More so, when they were blown away for 36 in the Pink-ball Test against Australia in Adelaide as well.

“India’s win in Australia early last year will go down as one of the greatest wins in Indian cricket history,” Gavaskar said.

He continued: “To pick themselves up after the dismissal with their lowest ever Test score of 36 and then to beat a rampant home team is a tribute to the determination shown by the players and the leadership roles played by the captain, coach Ravi Shastri and his support group. I was privileged to be there and see a golden chapter being written in the history of Indian cricket.”

“India picked an attack that worked” – Michael Clarke on Team India

Meanwhile, former Australia captain Michael Clarke, who had led Australia to the 2015 ODI World Cup win, said that Team India deserved all the credit for bouncing back well after the rather forgettable first match loss.

“India picked an attack that worked. Different bowlers – not everyone bowls the same, different tactics, different skills, different weapons, so the credit goes to India for their execution but also Australia might have taken for granted their success in the first Test,” Clarke added.

However, currently, Team India are playing against South Africa in a three-match Test series. While India won the first one, the hosts managed to win the second as well.
