Alzarri Shaheim Joseph was born on 20th November 1996. He is an Antiguan cricketer who plays for the West Indies in Tests and ODIs as well. However, he also plays for the Leeward Islands and the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in domestic cricket. He is a right-arm fast bowler who was signed by one of the most successful IPL teams Mumbai Indians franchise as a replacement for Adam Milne for the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) season as well.

When did Alzarri Joseph Make his International Debut?

Alzarri Joseph made his Test debut on 9th August 2016 against India. He made his debut in the ODI format on 2nd October 2016 against Pakistan as well.

Alzarri Joseph - Domestic career

Alzarri Joseph made his first-class debut for the Leewards in the 2014–15 Regional Four Day Competition. Next season, against Guyana, he picked up a maiden first-class five-wicket haul, registering 5/99 while opening the bowling with Gavin Tonge. He claimed another five-wicket haul - 7/46 in the next game against the Windward Islands.

And, in December 2015, Joseph was added to the West Indies squad for the 2016 Under-19 World Cup. At the tournament, he picked up 13 wickets from six matches to finish as the highest wicket-taker of his team and third overall. His best performance which was 4/30 came against Zimbabwe and earned him the man of the match award as well. In October 2019, he was added to the Leeward Islands' squad for the 2019–20 Regional Super50 tournament as well.

Alzarri Joseph - International career

In July 2016 he was added to the West Indies Test squad for their series against India. He made his Test debut on 9 August 2016 in the third match of the Test series as well whereas his One Day International (ODI) debut came against Pakistan on 2nd October 2016. In June 2020, Joseph was added to the West Indies Test squad. Joseph later scored his maiden Test fifty on 5th December 2020, amassing 86 runs in the second innings of the Test against New Zealand.

Alzarri Joseph - T20 career

In March 2019, Mumbai Indians picked him as a replacement for Adam Milne in the Indian Premier League (IPL). On 6th April 2019, he made his IPL debut against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and registered the figures of 6/12, which was the best bowling figure for a debutant as well beating Andrew Tye's 5/17 in 2017. These were also the best bowling figures in the IPL as well, breaking the eleven-year-old record held by Sohail Tanvir (6/14) and also the second-best T20 bowling figures after Deepak Chahar (6/7). He also became only the second player to take a fifer on IPL debut, after Andrew Tye as well.

In July 2019, he was picked to play for the Amsterdam Knights in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament. However, Mumbai Indians released him ahead of the 2020 IPL auction. In July 2020, he was named in the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots squad for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League and went unsold in the 2021 IPL auction as well.
