West Indies player Alzarri Joseph was born on 20 November 1996 and he is an Antiguan cricketer who plays for the national team in Tests and ODIs as well. He plays for the Leeward Islands and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in domestic cricket as well. He bowls right-arm fast and is also a right-handed batter who was selected by the five-times champion Mumbai Indians franchise as a replacement player for Adam Milne for the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) season as well.
In July 2016, he was added to the West Indies Test squad against India. His Test debut came on 9 August 2016 in the third match of the series and he made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Pakistan on 2 October 2016 as well. In October 2018, Cricket West Indies (CWI) awarded him a contract across formats in the 2018–19 season as well whereas he hit his maiden Test fifty on 5th December 2020, scoring 86 runs against New Zealand as well. In June 2022, Alzarri Joseph was added to the West Indies Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their series against Bangladesh as well whereas he made his T20I debut on 29 July 2022 as well.
He, however, made his IPL debut against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and registered the brilliant figure of 6/12, which was also the best bowling figure for a debutant, beating Andrew Tye’s 5/17 in 2017 as well. This was also the best bowling figure in the IPL, breaking the eleven-year-old record by Sohail Tanvir (6/14) and the second-best T20 bowling figure after Deepak Chahar (6/7) as well. He also became only the second player to scalp a five-wicket-haul on his IPL debut, after Andrew Tye as well. However, he was released by the Mumbai Indians before the 2020 IPL auction and, in February 2022, he was bought by Gujarat Titans for the 2022 IPL.
