The final of the inaugural edition of the Maharashtra Premier League 2023 will be played between Ratnagiri Jets and Kolhapur Tuskers on Thursday, June 29, at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The Ratnagiri Jets reached the final after beating the Kolhapur Tuskers in the first qualifier. It was a nail-biting contest and the Jets managed to win and qualify for the final directly as well. And, now they will be hoping to repeat their performance in the final too as well. However, the first qualifier was reduced to 15 overs per side due to rain. After being asked to bat first, the Jets could manage 136/8, courtesy of Dhiraj Phatangare’s 26-ball 46. The bowlers then did a great job of restricting the opponents to 130/5 to win the game by four runs on the DLS method as well.
On the other hand, Kolhapur Tuskers lost to the Jets in the first qualifier but they beat Puneri Bappa in the second qualifier to reach the final against the Jets. Akshay Darekar picked up three wickets for the Tuskers and helped his side restrict Puneri Bappa to 133/7 as well. In reply, Siddharth Mhatre played a great knock of 58* to guide his side to reach the finish line with five wickets to spare. The Tuskers will now be looking for a win when they face the Jets on Thursday as well.
