In the IPL 2024 auction, Shahrukh Khan, the Tamil Nadu all-rounder, was acquired by the Gujarat Titans for a hefty sum of Rs 7.4 crore. The bidding war for Shahrukh between the Punjab Kings and the Gujarat Titans culminated in his selection by the latter. Prior to the auction, Shahrukh had been released by the Punjab Kings, which freed up Rs 9 crore. Although Shahrukh showcased his power-hitting ability against pace, he struggled against wrist-spinners. Despite his mediocre white-ball season with Tamil Nadu, his reputation as a finisher and his exceptional performance in the TNPL 2023 made him a valuable asset during the auction.
