West Indies and India are all set to take on each other in the first of the two-match test series slated to take place at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica on Wednesday, July 12. After failing to cement a place at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, West Indies will now focus on the longest format of the game as they are all set to play their first test series of the WTC 2023-2025 cycle. Notably, West Indies did not have a great show in the previous cycle, as they finished eighth with a percentage point of 34.62 as well. However, they won’t get the service of some of their experienced players like – Gudakesh Motie, Kyle Mayers, and Jayden Seales due to injuries. But, Kirk Mckenzie and Rahkeem Cornwall have been included in the squad as well.
On the other hand, India failed to win the World Test Championship for the second consecutive time as they faced a rather forgettable defeat to Australia in the final as well. However, the Indian team will try to attention to begin the next cycle with a win. For that, India have announced a full-strength squad as well. While some new faces have been included in the Indian side for the series like – Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan and Mukesh Kumar, they dropped their veteran players and it will be interesting to see how they perform in the series.
The match will be live-streamed on the official YouTube channel of Sri Lanka Cricket.
