The last match of Group A of the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 will witness Sri Lanka A play against Oman A at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka won their first match of the tournament against Bangladesh but they failed to keep the momentum on, as they lost to Afghanistan in their second match as well. They have two points to their name and they will have to beat Oman to qualify for the semifinals as well. Bowling first, Chamika Karunaratne claimed three wickets as Afghanistan were restricted to 252-9. Minod Bhanuka smashed a century in reply but he lacked support from the other end as they lost by 11 runs.
Oman, on the other hand, have already been knocked out of the competition, after losing both games. They suffered a heavy loss against Bangladesh in their last match as well. After being asked to bat first, Oman could only manage 126. Aqib Ilyas claimed two wickets but they failed to defend the total as Bangladesh chased down the below-par target in the 17th over. It will be interesting to know how they perform in the next game.
The pitch at the R. Premadasa Stadium will give similar assistance to both batters and bowlers. Batters can score big if they set their eyes in the middle. Meanwhile, heavy rain is predicted on Tuesday, with the temperature expected to be in the mid-20s as well.
