Nguyen Thuy Linh is a Vietnamese badminton player who earned recognition after the illustrious career of Nguyen Tien Minh. Vietnamese badminton was often carried by the responsible shoulders of Tien Minh in every international tournament. However, with age it was looking like Vietnam’s badminton future would slip into oblivion for a few years. But, out of that slumber sprung Linh who has rocked the entire women’s singles. Linh has a very interesting start to her professional life and her escapade with badminton is becoming very popular. She started her career by leaving her hometown in Phú Thọ Province to train at the Hanoi badminton club. Subsequently, she went to the coastal town of Da Nang to join the local club over there. Later on, she represented her country at the 2015 SEA Games when she was 18 years old.
In 2016, she won her first BWF International Challenge/Series in the form of the Nepal International. This was however not the first title in the International Challenge/Series as Linh went on to win 9 titles and came runner-up in 6 more. The titles that she won are Mongolia International, Lao International, Italian International and Bangladesh International in 2017-18. Later on, she added one more Bangladesh International, Belgian International and Vietnam International series in 2022.
Subsequently, she got a ticket to compete at the higher stage, i.e. the BWF World Tour. In contrast to the International series, she has only two podiums on the world tour. But the important thing to note is both have come with dangling gold around her neck. She won the Vietnam Open back-to-back in 2022 and 2023. Now, with the quarterfinals of the China Masters on her plate, Linh would like to end the tournament with a high. This would also increase the chances of the Vietnamese for the Paris Olympics scheduled next year. However, besides her badminton world, there is nothing interesting or spicy about her personal life.
