Anders Antonsen was born on 27 April 1997. He is a skilled badminton player from Denmark. At the age of six, Antonsen began playing badminton in Kastanievej, Viby. His father, who worked at one of the badminton clubs in Aarhus named AB, taught him and his brother Kasper Antonsen the game. At the 2013 Forza Denmark International competition, he made his debut on the global stage. He defeated German competitor Max Weißkirchen in the 2015 European Junior Championship final with scores of 21-9, 15-21, and 21-9. In addition, he triumphed in several competitions that year, including the Dutch International, Belgian International, and Irish Open, earning him the title of 2015 European Young Player of the Year.  He won the Scottish Open Grand Prix in 2016, which served as his debut Grand Prix victory. He also triumphed in several other competitions that same year, including the Swedish Master, Austrian Open, and Spanish International.

The Danish Thomas Cup squad selected Antonsen in 2018, and he took home a bronze. He was successful in making it to the semifinals of the Denmark Open Super 750 competition, but Chou Tien-Chen of Chinese Taipei defeated him there with a score of 21-19, 11-21, and 12-21. From 2017 to 2019, Antonsen, who played for the Aarhus AB, won the National Championships championship three times in succession.  At the 2019 Indonesia Masters, he won the BWF World Tour championship by defeating Japan’s Kento Momota, the 2018 World Champion and current World No. 1, 21-16, 14-21, 21-16 in the championship match. He defeated Brice Leverdez of France in the men’s singles final with a score of 21-19, 14-21, and 21-10 to win the gold medal at the 2019 Minsk European Games. 

The 2019 Indonesia Open Super 1000 competition saw Antonsen go to the last round, however, he was forced to settle for second place after falling to Chou Tien-Chen by scores of 18-21, 26-24, and 15-21. Despite defeating the top-seeded, defending champion Kento Momota in two straight games (9-21, 3-21), Antonsen won the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships in Basel, Switzerland. Defeated by fellow countryman Viktor Axelsen (17-21, 15-21) in the finals of the European Championships on April 30, Antonsen took home silver. In response to criticism of his play, Antonsen expressed extreme resentment, claiming that the audience almost merited an apology. Then, citing injuries, Antonsen withdrew from the Asian leg of competitions, which included the Indonesia Masters, Indonesia Open, Malaysian Open, Malaysian Masters, and Singapore Open.
