CJ Allen, an American track and field athlete who participates in the 400-meter hurdles, was born on February 14, 1995. He holds the indoor 400m hurdles US men’s national record. He went to North Mason High School while a resident of Belfair, Washington.
On Friday, June 9, 2023, in Paris, at the Meeting de Paris at Stade Charlety, Allen won the 400-meter hurdles race in 47.92 seconds. At the Oslo Diamond League competition in 2023, Allen recorded a new personal best time for the 400-meter hurdles. He competes in the 400-meter hurdles event at the 2023 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, and comes in second to Rai Benjamin.
In the NCAA 400-meter hurdle heats in 2017, Allen ran for Washington State University in 49.44 seconds, although he came in ninth and missed the NCAA final by one position. He set a personal-best time of 48.17 seconds in 2022 at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, however, he came in fourth in the USA final and fell just short of making the U.S. team for the World Athletics Championships in Eugene.
Allen broke the 400-meter hurdles indoor American national record in January 2023. At the University of Iowa’s American Track League Pro Puma Classic competition, he finished in 48.88 seconds. He surpassed Reuben McCoy’s 2011 record of 49.78 seconds and came within one second of Felix Sanchez of the Dominican Republic’s 2012 world record of 48.78 seconds.
