Anouk Vetter is a Dutch athlete who specializes in the heptathlon. She clinched the silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, finishing behind Nafissatou Thiam. She achieved a total of 6689 points, which was her personal best and then national record. In addition, she won the silver medal at the World Championships 2022 in Eugene, Oregon, by shattering the national record once again with 6867 pts. She was the 2016 European champion. She is currently an ambassador for Right to Play, On the Move for Dutch Railways, and a member of the Rabobank Services provided and Project Comeback (organized by Helden Magazine – Heroes Magazine).

One of most inspiring stories in Athletics is Vetter’s comeback to the sport. She had almost thought two years ago that her athletic career was finished and that she would no longer produce any success in the heptathlon. However, she rediscovered her enjoyment of her sport and her performances improved by taking a break, as well as taking a careful look at herself and enabling herself to make different decisions. Sports have always been her top priority, and she purposefully avoided any other activities during that period.

Anouk Vetter was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on February 4, 1993. Anouk first encountered sports when she was quite young. Her father, Ronald Vetter, has been an athletics coach for many years, and her mother, Gerda Vetter-Blokziel, is a two-time Dutch javelin champion. She grew up on the track, going around on the high jump mat since she was four or five years old. Eventually, the heptathlon became her true love. Her body, although, was prone to injury. Her father took over as her coach in 2012. In order to protect her delicate physique, he reduced her training to 80% less than the other women in the combined sport event.
