In one of the top-tier competitions of the year, Noah Lyles, the world’s fastest 200-meter sprinter currently, won the 60-meter sprint in 6.51 seconds at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, edging Trayvon Bromell. Lyles registered a lifetime best time in the 60-meter sprint before reiterating his commitment to shattering records in the 100- and, 200-meter races, where Usain Bolt has the all-time best marks.

Lyles won his heat one in 6.61 seconds, just 0.01 seconds faster than his personal best of 6.55. While Bromell topped the second heat with a timing of 6.61. Benjamin Azamati of Ghana came in third in the final with a timing of 6.62. Bromell, the world 100m bronze medalist, is a former world indoor 60m champion, having won the championship in 2016 and had a better start than Lyles, which is essential in a six-second race. However, Lyles outran Bromell and knocked four hundredths off his career-best on Saturday night.

During one of his interviews with the National Broadcasting Company (NBC), the leading commercial broadcast television network, Noah stated, “I’ve been waiting on this for a long time. Every time I watch Christian (Coleman) and Trayvon run the 60s, I think, I’ve got to be in it. (I’m) not just coming for the 200m world record, we’re coming for all the world records.”
