The Memorial Josip Gašparac 2023 meeting has been awarded the prestigious title of World Athletics Indoor Tour Bronze meeting.

The Memorial Josip Gašparac 2023 is slated to take place at the Nastavno-Športska Dvorana Gradski in Osijek, Croatia. On February 21 and 22, 2023, some of the top pole vaulters will mark their participation in the meeting in Croatia. The classic indoor athletics meeting has been awarded the prestigious title of World Athletics Indoor Tour Bronze meet, placing it among the largest world and European athletics meets. Over the past six years, the Osijek based Slavonija-Žito Athletic Club has been organizing the International Indoor Athletics Meeting, promoting the activities and sports sector in Osijek. The athletic event will draw the attention of around 20 of the top pole vaulters of the world.
Piotr Lisek is one of the prominent names who will be competing at the bronze meeting. He took bronze at the 2015 and 2019 World Championships, as well as silver in the 2017 World Championships. He is the first vaulter from Poland to clear the six meters mark. His indoor best is 6.00 meters from Potsdam in 2017, while his outdoor best is 6.02 meters from Monaco in 2019. He has also competed in the Olympics twice, placing fourth and sixth in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and Tokyo in 2020. In Osijek, he will intend to put on a performance that will smash records.
The participants’ performances at this competition in Osijek will be taken into consideration when determining the standard for the Olympic Games as well as the World Championships in Budapest and European Athletics Championships in Istanbul. There will be many tourists and viewers from all around Europe in addition to the best athletes. The men and women in the B and C divisions will compete on February 21, Tuesday. While the top division contestants will take the stage on February 22.

The European Athletics, the governing body for athletics in Europe, has officially confirmed that the competition will be live streamed with an English commentator. The streaming will be available on the YouTube channel of the European Athletics.
The prize money for both men and women who belongs to the elite group is as follows:
First Place – 1000,00 Euro
Second Place – 600,00 Euro
Third Place – 400,00 Euro
Fourth Place – 300,00 Euro
Fifth Place – 200,00 Euro
Meeting Record – 500,00 Euro
