The Mainova Frankfurt Marathon 2022 is scheduled to be held on October 30, 2022, in Frankfurt city of Germany. It has been held every year in Frankfurt am Main since 1981, with the years 2020 and 2021 being cancelled due to the pandemic. It is Germany’s longest-running city marathon and the country’s second-largest in terms of finishers. The route begins on the Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage, next to the famous Messeturm. The course records are held by Valary Aiyabei in 2019 (2:19:10) and Wilson Kipsang in 2011 (2:03:42) in the women’s and men’s category respectively.
The Ethiopian duo of Betesfa Getahun and Gebru Redahgne are the top two quickest in the men’s field, with personal best performances of 2:05:28 and 2:05:58. Martin Kosgey of Kenya will start as the third fastest in the race, with a career best of 2:06:41. Kosgey had also finished second in the 2018 Frankfurt Marathon. Sally Kaptich, who has a personal best time of 2:21:09, heads a strong team in the women’s division. She will be joined by Kenyans Helah Kiprop, Jackline Chepngeno, Caroline Jepchirchir, Gladys Chepkurui, and Martha Akeno.
