After a nail-biting opener against Australia, Team India will be looking to secure their first victory in the quadrennial event against their arch-rival Pakistan on July 31, 2022. Representing India on her eighth T20I, Renuka Singh demolished the Aussie top and middle-order, scalping four wickets which resulted in the world champion struggling at 49-6 in one stage. However, Ashleigh Gardner’s unbeaten knock of 52 (35) and Grace Harris’s 37 (20) powered Australia to 157/7 with 6 balls to spare.

The men’s hockey team will start their Commonwealth Games campaign against Ghana on July 31 and aim to finish the game in a dominating fashion. Weightlifter and Youth Olympic Champion Jeremy Lalrinnunga will lead India’s challenge in the Men’s 67 kg category. Having won Gold at the Commonwealth Championships 2021, Jeremy will target a podium finish at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
