WWE Royal Rumble 2022: a look at all of the confirmed matches so far

WWE Royal Rumble 2022 will be the first of WWE’s “Big Five” pay-per-view events of the New Year. And, as things stand, the card for the event is already shaping up.

The latest episode of WWE Raw on January 4 (Tuesday) saw a couple of matches added to the event. As always, the event will feature two Royal Rumble matches too.

On Raw, the next match of the WWE champion was made official. He will take on Bobby Lashley in a singles match after Lashley won a number one contender’s Fatal 4-Way.

Edge, who beat The Miz at Day 1, also confirmed a mixed tag team match featuring him and wife Beth Phoenix against Miz and Maryse.

Here’s a look at the full WWE Royal Rumble 2022 card thus far.

WWE Royal Rumble 2022: the matches confirmed till now

• WWE champion Brock Lesnar will take on Bobby Lashley for the title, in a match that has been a long time coming. Lashley beat Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins and Big E in a Fatal 4-Way number one contender’s match to secure his shot at Lesnar. The two have seemingly been on path for a match for what feels like a long time now. This is down largely to their similar careers – both are former amateur wrestlers who also tasted success in mixed martial arts (MMA). And at long last, they will face off in what is a dream match for many – including Lashley himself.
• The Miz and Maryse will take on Edge and Beth Phoenix in a mixed tag team match at the event. This came about after Miz and Edge’s match at Day 1. Phoenix returned to ensure there would be no interruption from Maryse, leading to Edge winning. And on Raw, a promo segment saw this match get confirmed.
• Becky Lynch will defend her RAW women’s championship at the event, but her opponent is not yet known. However, the next week’s episode of RAW will determine that. Doudrop, Bianca Belair and Liv Morgan will face off in a triple threat match to determine Lynch’s next opponent.
• The men’s Royal Rumble match has already seen a few members of the roster confirm their entry. The Street Profits tag team of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford, Austin Theory, Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio have all been confirmed. Also confirmed is actor Jonny Knoxville.
• The women’s Royal Rumble match has no confirmed entrants at this point. However, the field will fill out in due course.
