According to sources, both of WWE’s world title belts are expected to be on the line in this battle, which is terrible news for the Raw brand. Lesnar announced Reigns as his WrestleMania 38 opponent during the show’s post-Royal Rumble edition. He also threatened Bobby Lashley that if he doesn’t reclaim the WWE Championship before then, the match will be a title vs. title main event.

Lesnar was added to the WWE Title Elimination Chamber match on February 19 in Saudi Arabia, with the champion Lashley, AJ Styles, Austin Theory, Seth Rollins, and Riddle, because of his desire for a WWE Title bout.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is currently a notion within WWE creative that Vince McMahon will make the ‘Mania 38 main event a Title vs. Title contest between Lesnar and Reigns. This is why he chose Lesnar to compete in the Chamber match in the first place. It’s been reported that some within WWE are pushing for a Title vs. Title bout to take place. Brock Lesnar and Heyman have also had a significant impact on the creative crew.

According to the report by The Wrestling Observer, “The only thing we were told is that at press time the course to WrestleMania is once again set regarding both Titles and there are several twists and turns to come. It’ll all play out at Elimination Chamber most likely. The feeling internally was Vince was leaning in the direction of Title vs. Title, which would mean the originally planned WWE Title match, whatever it would have been, is now off.”

Wrestlemania 38 plans

The internal belief is that McMahon is veering toward a Title vs. Title showdown, which means the WWE Title/Universal Title battle is no longer in the cards. When Lashley was given the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble in 2022, WWE had no WrestleMania opponent in planned for him. As a result, he’ll almost certainly drop the championship in Elimination Chamber.

If this Title vs. Title fight takes place, it will be bad news for the RAW brand since the WWE Championship (World Title) would be on the stake between Reigns a SmackDown superstar and a Free Agent (Lesnar).

On the Road to WrestleMania 38, the Men’s Royal Rumble winner (Lesnar) will appear on the Smackdown brand with the Women’s Royal Rumble winner (Ronda Rousey), who has also targeted Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. Raw is destined to suffer from a lack of star power, with both mainstream attentions making cameos on the blue brand. Furthermore, for the first time in the history of WrestleMania, there will be no separate world title bout from WWE’s premier event.
