Sgt. Slaughter’s career

Robert Rudolph Remus was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up with a strong interest in sports. He was a former U.S. Marine who proudly served his country before pursuing a career in professional wrestling. Sgt Slaughter’s early career saw him mainly wrestling for the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and the American Wrestling Association (AWA). Sgt. Slaughter had his best times in the 80s

Sgt, Slaughter’s WWE career took off in the 1980s. During his WWE days, he portrayed his character as a Patriotic American soldier. He captured the WWF World Heavyweight Championship and headlined WrestleMania VII which was held in 1991. Slaughter rejoined the WWE in 1990 and took part in one of the most notorious episodes in the company’s history. He asserted that after the Cold War with the Soviet Union ended, America had become complacent and had done the unimaginable during the Gulf War by siding with Iraq. When Slaughter defeated The Ultimate Warrior at Royal Rumble 1991 with the assistance of “Macho King” Randy Savage, he earned his first and only World Title despite the distractions of death threats from outraged Americans.

The red, white, and blue-clad Hulk Hogan defeated Slaughter for The WWE Championship at WrestleMania VII. Then, Slaughter saw a method to go even lower by pairing himself with fellow Iraqi sympathizers Colonel Mustafa and General Adnan, once known as his most hated foe, The Iron Sheikh, and his adversary, Sheikh Adnan Al-Kaissey. The trio that is now known as The Triangle of Terror, Sgt. Slaughter, General Adnan, and Colonel Mustafa were beaten by Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior at SummerSlam 1991.

Slaughter resumed his role as a face after the Hogan feud was over, performing in segments next to famous American monuments and declaring, “I want my country back”. Slaughter made numerous returns to the WWE with the most recent one being on Raw on August 10, 2009, where he appeared as a special guest.
