Because of Vince McMahon’s peculiarities and issues, there were limitations placed on him on screen. There were too many to list, but one was that he was publicly against mentioning the referee’s name. After viewing the most recent RAW program, it appears that another another Vince McMahon rule has been altered.

Referee Shawn Bennett’s name was used during the introduction for RAW’s main event. A few admirers also caught wind of it on Twitter. But later the tweet was deleted. Tweet was posted by, @NotThatTomGreen, which said, “They said a referee’s name. This is a NEW ERA. #WWERaw”

What was the rule made by Vince McMahon?

How therefore can we be certain that Vince McMahon effectively forbade publicizing the referee’s name? The longest-serving referee in WWE history, Mike Chioda, said that Vince McMahon purposefully prevented referees’ names from being acknowledged.

Chioda said, “The only thing I didn’t like is when Vince cut our fing names off. He heard some referee’s name years ago, man, just being announced on commentary, and he said, ‘Who the f is this guy?’ They said, ‘It’s the referee, Vince.’ ‘Well, why the f*** am I hearing his fing name? God, dammit.’ He was like, ‘That’s it, I don’t wanna hear any more fing referees’ names.’ But they’d still plug my name once in a while.”

One of the many startling names revealed on April 15, 2020, the notorious day when WWE started their bulk releases to save money, was Chioda.

After taking over the WWE, Triple H also, striked two words off Vince McMahon’s list of forbidden phrases

Following his appointment as WWE creative director, Triple H has taken two terms off of Vince McMahon’s list of forbidden phrases. Following the resignation of former chairman McMahon, his father-in-law, after 40 years in the position, the legendary wrestler stepped into the position. By removing the terms that the previous chairman had blacklisted, Triple H has already begun making adjustments to the wrestling company in his new role. The terms on the prohibited list are those that competitors, pundits, and broadcasters are not permitted to use while events are being aired.

But once the creative director withdrew them from the list after his hiring, two of these words—”wrestler” and “wrestling”—have now been approved. Even though Triple H quickly undid some of McMahon’s efforts, he had nothing but love for the former boss, saying that the 76-year-old has left a “massive” void to be filled.
