Sean O’Malley has landed in hot water with Vitor Belfort. ‘Suga’ stirred controversy by securing a knockout victory over Aljamain Sterling within two rounds, clinching the bantamweight championship at UFC 292 in Boston last month. The 28-year-old ruffled feathers with his playful remarks about the open relationship he and his wife, Danya Gonzalez, are involved in.

O’Malley implied that due to his status as a ‘king’ and his financial contributions to the relationship, he has the freedom to pursue other romantic interests, even though he’s a parent. This comment stirred controversy and drew the attention of a UFC legend.

Sean O’Malley getting threats from Vitor Belfort

The newly crowned 135lb champion disclosed that Belfort, a former UFC champion in two weight classes, has been issuing threats to physically confront him for disrespecting his significant other in public.

“You see what’s going viral?” O’Malley said. “I’ll say it so people can clip this too, it said I can cheat on my wife because I’m the king and I pay for everything, you see that going viral as f***? It’s fire.

Sean O’Malley mentioned that Vitor Belfort contacted him with the intention of challenging him physically. O’Malley acknowledged that Vitor might confront him physically, but he also acknowledged that relationships can be complicated and either succeed or fail.

“Vitor Belfort reached out to me and expressed his desire to confront me physically. Vitor is determined to engage in a physical altercation with me, but relationships are complex; they either succeed or they don’t.”

Sean O’Malley hits back at his critics

Sean O’Malley reflected on his long-term relationship, highlighting that he and his girlfriend have been together for around eight years. He expressed his thoughts on how people often judge relationships based on societal norms, emphasizing that not everyone’s relationships follow the same pattern.

“We’ve been together for what eight years or some s***, doing good so it’s crazy how people just, it’s like you get married, you f****** have a girlfriend and you live this one way. “Any other way is not okay. It doesn’t work for everyone like that.”
