Conor McGregor has finally spoken up following his failure to meet the deadline for his anticipated UFC comeback this year, urging fans to practice “patience.” The outspoken Irish fighter’s highly anticipated showdown with Michael Chandler was initially slated to take place on the UFC’s year-end pay-per-view event on December 16, but now hangs in the balance.

McGregor, aged 34, has not yet commenced his re-entry into the testing pool of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), a prerequisite that demands a minimum duration of six months before he becomes eligible to participate in any competition.

Will Conor McGregor fight this year

It is highly probable that fans of mixed martial arts will witness the return of the UFC’s prominent figure in the early months of the upcoming year, unless he is granted an exemption from the mandatory six-month requirement.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, the fighter hinted at an imminent announcement regarding his future, accompanying it with sparring footage and cryptically stating, “Placey McPlacerson, I am in the place.”

“Ya’s’ll shut up and wait. Silence! A roar from the throne. Patience, peasants. Bring Proper Twelve, Forged Irish Stout, Tidl Sport. Bring me Gold and Plunder,” the caption read.

Despite acknowledging the possibility of a slight delay in his long-awaited opportunity to face off against McGregor, former three-time Bellator lightweight champion Chandler remains optimistic about stepping into the cage with the Dubliner.

Since suffering a leg injury in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier two years ago, former two-division champion McGregor has been absent from the octagon and has not competed in any fights.

In the case of Chandler, his most recent fight took place against the former interim lightweight champion Poirier, resulting in a third-round submission loss during their UFC 281 encounter in November of last year.
