Michael Shawn Hickenbottom (born July 22, 1965, Chandler, Arizona, United States) is a retired American professional wrestler better known by his ring name Shawn Michaels. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He has a lot of nicknames like “The Heartbreak Kid”, “The Showstopper” and “Mr WrestleMania.”

The youngest child of Richard and Carol Hickenbottom, Shawn has two elder brothers (Randy & Scott) and one older sister (Shari). His father, Richard was a member of the US Air Force, so they never really stayed in one place. At one point during Shawn’s childhood, his family lived in England. They later moved to San Antonio, Texas and that was where Shawn grew up.

Michaels was a very talented boy and was very interested in sports. He joined his school’s football team when he was six years old and started off as a linebacker before being named captain.

He soon realised that he wanted to become a professional wrestler at the age of 12. He joined Southwest Texas State University but he came to the realization that he wasn’t cut out for academics and decided to pursue a career in wrestling.

Besides being a legendary professional wrestler, a two time WWE Hall of Famer, and a coach in NXT, Michaels is also involved in brand-to-brand endorsement activities. He signed a deal with Eyeblack in 2012 where he is the brand ambassador and he has a clothing line with Eyeblack as the company has the right to sell their products with Michael’s name and phrases on their product.

Michaels is known for hosting an outdoor television show called “Shawn Michaels’ MacMillan River Adventures.” This show features Shawn and his friend hunting big-game animals around the world, including the original MacMillan Adventures camp in Yukon, Canada. This show airs on CarbonTV. In 2015, Hickenbottom released his autobiography, “Wrestling for My Life: The Legend, the Reality, and the Faith of a WWE Superstar.” This was co-written with David Thomas.
