Terry Funk in WWE

Terry Funk debuted in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1985, following a brief stint in the AWA. He not only defeated Aldo Marino in his televised debut on Championship Wrestling, but he also defeated ring announcer Mel Phillips. After Phillips made the mistake of wearing Funk’s cowboy hat, Funk assaulted him. Phillips’ attack sparks a conflict with Junkyard Dog. Funk linked up with Dory and Jimmy Jack Funk, a fictional “brother,” in the mid-1980s. Jimmy Hart was their manager. At the time, he was feuding with the Junkyard Dog, which culminated in a bout at WrestleMania 2 between Terry Funk and Hoss Funk and Tito Santana and Junkyard Dog. Terry also faced Hulk Hogan in a number of WWF title battles. In April 1986, Funk quit the WWF.
